Artist statement

I am a contemporary abstract artist exploring the world of fuidity using pigment, paint, alcohol inks and epoxy resin.
Conscious layering and manipulation in conjunction with the nature of the chemical reaction between the pigments creates the most beautiful organic abstract pieces that cure with a glass like fnish.

My process urges me to surrender to fuidity, let go of my expectations of the final product and simply enjoy the process of creation in its purest form. The natural fow of the liquid can only be controlled to a certain point after which all control must be relinquished, allowing it to fow as it sees ft, reacting with the pigments around it, following it’s natural path of gravity, sometimes slowly moving for hours until it cures.

Artist bio

I studied Visual Arts and Design at EIT in Hawke’s Bay and went on to work in graphic design, photography and website design. I now run my own business doing much the same in Wild Sparrow in Wairoa, check out www.wildsparrow.co.nz if your interested!.

I have always had a strong affnity with nature and all my work seems to have a very natural and organic quality regardless of what medium I'm using. Growing up in rural New Zealand meant that the peace and tranquillity of the native bush was never far away and I continue to immerse myself in the beauty of mother nature any chance I can get!
